Roots of Empathy

"Roots of Empathy changing the world child by child" (Mary Gordon, Founder/President of Roots of Empathy)

Roots of empathy focuses on raising levels of empathy, resulting in more respectful and caring relationships and reduced levels of bullying and aggression.
The Roots of Empathy baby is at the heart of the programme. Throughout the year during the family visits students learn to observe baby's development & identify baby's feelings. Baby as "teacher" helps pupils to identify & reflect on their own feelings and the feelings of others.
Children in roots of empathy are encouraged to see themselves as "changees" - people that have the ability to challenge what is not fair and to help those with problems.
Roots of Empathy is ran in Scoil Bhride in conjunction with Tullamore School Completion Programme and taught by Annmarie Cutler, Roots of Empathy trained instructor.

"The world is like an orchestra; some musical instruments may be percussive and loud and some may be gentle and tinkly, but when played together, the orchestra makes beautiful music." -Mary Gordon, Founder/President, Roots of Empathy
